CE Certification for Luminaries

October 26, 2024

CE certification means that the product complies with the basic requirements of relevant EU regulations and directives, allowing the product to circulate freely within the European Economic Area (EEA). For lightings, the main contents of CE certification include the following aspects:

Low Voltage Directive (LVD)

lightings must comply with the Low Voltage Directive (2014/35/EU) to ensure the safety of the equipment when working within the specified voltage range. This directive applies to equipment with AC voltage between 50V and 1000V or DC voltage between 75V and 1500V.

Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMC)

According to the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (2014/30/EU), lightings cannot interfere with the normal operation of other electrical equipment under normal working conditions, and they themselves cannot be affected by electromagnetic interference from other equipment. This ensures the normal function and safety of the equipment.

RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU)

This directive restricts the use of hazardous substances (such as lead, mercury, cadmium, etc.) in lightings, ensuring that the impact of products on the environment is minimized and reducing health risks to users.

This directive ensures the energy efficiency and environmental sustainability of lightings, covering the entire life cycle from design to production, requiring manufacturers to minimize energy consumption and waste generation.

Manufacturer's Declaration of Conformity (DoC)

lighting manufacturers must sign a Declaration of Conformity confirming that their products comply with the requirements of all relevant CE directives and assume legal responsibility.

Technical Documentation

Manufacturers must prepare detailed technical documentation, including design drawings, test reports, product descriptions, etc., to prove that the product complies with the requirements of the relevant directives.

Legal access to the EU market

The CE mark is a passport to enter the EU market. Any lighting product that has not obtained CE certification cannot be legally sold or circulated in the European Economic Area.

Safety and quality assurance

CE certification ensures that lighting products meet strict health, safety and environmental standards. This not only guarantees the safety of users, but also reduces the legal risks caused by non-compliance for manufacturers.

Products with CE certification mean that quality and safety are officially recognized, which can enhance consumers' trust in the brand and enhance the competitiveness of enterprises in the international market.

Avoid legal liability

For selling products that do not meet CE requirements, companies may face high fines, product recalls, and even legal proceedings. Therefore, CE certification helps reduce legal and economic risks.
